Anonymous:

is schizophrenia a personality disorder?

No. Personality disorders, as defined by Psychology Today are “deeply ingrained ways of thinking and behaving that are inflexible and generally lead to impaired relationships with others.“ Antisocial PD, Narcissistic, and Borderline are some examples.

Schizophrenia is a chronic brain disorder that generally involves hallucinations, delusions, disordered speech/thinking among many many other symptoms, some of which can also be seen in personality disorders.

There is Schizotypal Personality Disorder, which as the name says IS one, that some consider to be on the same spectrum as schizophrenia but classified as a completely different disorder.

Disclaimer again as I’m by no means an expert, just done a lot of research, so please correct me if I say something wrong. (Actually reading back in my comic notes, I can see how I might have been misleading there, so I’ll go edit that!) Thanks!
